Roosevelt University is looking for a Campus Safety Officer to work at the Chicago Campus. This full-time evening role includes patrolling the campus, ensuring safety, and managing incidents. The Campus Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of all students, employees and visitors on the University Campus.
Roosevelt University seeks a Full-time Campus Safety Officer at the Chicago Campus.
This is an evening shift and the schedule is 2:30PM – 11:00PM with off days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is a union position and will require union membership; health and wellness benefits is provided by the union.
The salary for this position is $17/hr.

Preferred Qualifications
Earned Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
One year continuous security/safety experience.
Previous experience in preliminary investigation and preparing incident reports.
Previous customer service experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook.
Previous experience in higher education.
Equipment Operated
Basic office equipment (desktop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax and telephone), two-way radio.
Security video management systems; electronic access systems; visitor management systems.
Vehicle.
Working Conditions
May be exposed to inclement weather and extremes of temperature.
May be exposed to high levels of noise – ex., fire alarms, sirens.
May be exposed to dangers inherent in working in a security and safety role.
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.

Secure campus and facilities by: patrolling interior and exterior of buildings and campus; locking/unlocking doors; observing for and following up on suspicious persons/circumstances; responding to various security and safety related incidents; checking and inspecting building, security, fire and life safety equipment.

Ensures ongoing coverage at all security posts; monitor people as they enter and exit; greet, check identification, issue guest badges, keys, and respond to student, staff and visitor inquiries. Enforce Roosevelt rules & regulations. Monitor and respond to building, security, fire and life safety equipment/systems.

Conducts preliminary investigations and prepares incident reports recording observations, information, occurrences, statements and/or surveillance activities; updates a daily activity and other reports in accordance with department’s policies and procedures.
