Job summary

Gilroy Unified School District is seeking a part-time Yard Duty/Noon Duty Aide at Rucker Elementary School in Gilroy, California. Immediate start with duties including monitoring student conduct, supervising meals, and documenting actions per district procedures.

Position requires ability to manage student interactions, read and write at required level, and follow district rules. Work environment includes indoor/outdoor settings with varying weather conditions and basic office tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of approved techniques and methods of youth supervision.
• Ability to read and write at a level sufficient to perform required duties.
• Ability to learn District rules and regulations pertaining to student behavior and conduct on campus.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions.
• Ability to analyze situation accurately and adopt effective course of action.
• Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in dealing with students.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

• Patrol school grounds, playgrounds, corridors, restrooms and adjacent areas for the purpose of enforcing district rules and regulations as they pertain to student conduct, safety and behavior.
• Monitor and supervise students in and around eating areas during brunch and/or lunch periods
• Prepare necessary follow-up paperwork for documentation and actions taken as designated by procedures
• Intercedes in and resolves student disagreements
• Escorts students to class or to proper administrative office as needed
