Job summary

Niagara University, located near Niagara Falls and serving a diverse campus community, seeks a Campus Safety Officer to patrol campus environs and respond to emergencies under supervision. The role includes issuing parking tickets, performing payroll runs, and providing courteous service to students and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma (or equivalent), at least one year of related experience, and a valid NYS driver’s license; NYS Security Guard registration or ability

Qualifications

• High School diploma required or equivalent experience.
• Associate (AAS) Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• A minimum of 1-year related experience is required.
• A valid New York State driver’s license is required for driving university business, and ability to operate a motor vehicle in Canada.
• Current NYS Security Guard Registration or ability to obtain it.
• First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification.
• EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus environs by foot and/or vehicle to observe and report suspicious or criminal activity.
• Respond to emergencies, take appropriate action, and document all incidents.
• Issue tickets for parking and moving violations.
• Work flexible hours and shifts including special events and residence halls.
• Considered an Essential Trained Responder, trained to use equipment for emergencies or hazardous situations.
• Perform payroll runs and general courier service.
• Provide friendly, courteous service to the Niagara University community.
• Attend trainings and retain information.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and refer violations to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
