Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College seeks a Campus Security Officer to protect people, assets and property across campus locations, focusing on prevention, detection of crime and documenting incidents per policy and FERPA guidelines.

You will provide assistance to students and visitors, control access, respond to alarms and emergencies, file reports to the Dean of Safety & Preparedness, and coordinate with facilities and police as required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Must possess a current Indiana Driver's license and be insurable by the college.
• Must communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to observe situations and make sound decisions.
• Ability to interact politely with students, staff and the public.
• Ability to translate observations into complete, accurate crime reports.
• Ability to work outside in all weather and irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to post orders and campus security protocols.
• Provide security across campus buildings and grounds, including parking lots.
• Assist students and visitors with directions and information.
• Lock/unlock doors and control access as required.
• Direct traffic on campus when necessary.
• Complete incident reports and submit to the Dean of Safety & Preparedness.
• Respond to fire alarms and coordinate with Facilities and local responders.
• Input crime reporting data and assist with access control software.
• Escort students, staff and faculty to vehicles when needed.
• All duties subject to FERPA guidelines.
