Job summary

Guilford College seeks a dedicated security professional to safeguard students, staff and campus property on a full-time basis. You will enforce campus safety policies, coordinate with local emergency services, and perform regular patrols to ensure a secure learning environment.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, with two years of security experience; a related college degree is a plus. Excellent communication and flexible weekend/holiday availability are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma.
• Prefer at least two years of related work experience in security/campus security.
• Experience in a college/university campus security environment is preferred.
• A college degree in a related field is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and written and oral communication skills.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Enforces Guilford College policies, rules, and campus safety procedures.
• Coordinates positive working relationships with campus community and emergency services; serves as on-scene liaison with police, fire and medical responders.
• Responds to calls for service and emergencies; provides escorts and manages access control of buildings.
• Conducts regular interior and exterior patrols of campus buildings and grounds; enforces traffic and parking regulations as needed.
• Documents incidents and communicates relevant information to supervisors and Campus Life/Public Safety staff.
• Completes incident reports and raises safety or hazard concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Collaborates with Campus Life staff to respond to student incidents and emergencies.
• Notifies Directors and Campus Life administrators for after-hours emergencies as needed.
• Participates in Public Safety/Campus Life training and community outreach programs.
