Job summary

Greenwich Academy seeks a Security Officer to safeguard a vibrant campus community and support daily operations in a part-time role located in Greenwich, CT. The officer will patrol, monitor access points, respond to emergencies, and work with local emergency services to uphold a secure environment.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in law enforcement, military, corrections, school security, private security, or related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Connecticut Security Officer Registration/Guard Card (or ability to obtain).
• Connecticut State Pistol Permit (or ability to obtain).
• Connecticut Armed Security Officer Certification (Blue Card/Class 1) or ability to obtain before armed duties.
• Strong communication, sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
• Ability to stay calm and respond effectively during emergencies.
• Basic computer skills and ability to prepare written reports.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; occasional evenings/weekends.
• Experience in a school or educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence throughout campus.
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas.
• Monitor entrances, exits, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Operate security cameras, access control, alarm, and communication systems.
• Respond to security incidents, medical emergencies, fire alarms, and other emergencies.
• Support lockdowns, evacuations, drills, and Emergency Operations Plan.
• Assist arrival and dismissal, traffic management, events, and programs.
• Prepare accurate incident reports and report safety concerns.
• Communicate professionally with students, staff, families, visitors, and responders.
• Maintain confidentiality and perform other duties as assigned.
