Ivy Tech Community College seeks the Director of Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness to lead day-to-day operations, supervise campus safety staff, and collaborate with campus leadership on safety initiatives. This role guides emergency planning, drills, and compliance with the Clery Act, while shaping a secure, inclusive campus culture.

The position requires a relevant degree, supervisory experience in education settings, strong communication, and willingness to travel within the state.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of related supervisory experience, preferably in post-secondary education.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational, planning, evaluation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel within the state and occasional out-of-state travel.
• Ability to promote an inclusive environment reflecting diversity.

Responsabilités

• Assist in recruitment, selection, retention, and development of campus Public Safety staff.
• Provide direct supervision to campus Public Safety staff.
• Collaborate to implement emergency management and business continuity plans.
• Plan and execute Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program–compliant drills and exercises.
• Ensure campus compliance with the Clery Act.
• Develop a threat and risk-based front-line security staffing plan.
• Lead physical security initiatives (surveillance, access control).
• Provide PSEP leadership during campus crises and liaise with Executive Director.
• Meet with campus safety committee to address safety concerns.
• Foster a student- and employee-centered campus culture.
• Maintain campus emergency notification systems.
• Coordinate events with facilities requiring public safety oversight.
• Meet regularly with AWARE Team.
