Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• CPR and basic first aid certificates within the first 90 days of employment.
• Valid Class C California driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to type approximately 40 words per minute or higher.
• Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
• Excellent telephone etiquette with strong customer service skills and diplomacy.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Exercise sound judgment and work independently.
• Handle multiple responsibilities in stressful situations.
• Work a wide variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Work extended shifts on short notice or outside regular hours.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Data entry into various software programs and daily email communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of radio, telephone, and CCTV duties in the 24-hour center.
• Dispatch officers and fire, medical, and parking personnel to calls based on priority and resources.
• Track and document officer activities and prioritize calls.
• Complete detailed CAD entries for all calls.
• Develop positive community relations through excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with Public Safety personnel and Pepperdine community.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Public Safety leadership.
• Uphold the University mission in daily work.
