Kripalu Center in Stockbridge, MA is seeking a Campus Safety Associate to maintain a safe and welcoming environment across a large campus. You will patrol guest areas, monitor alarms, and respond to incidents with care and professional judgment.

You will provide first aid and CPR/AED support within your training scope, document events, and coordinate with Facilities, Guest Services, and other departments as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role at Kripalu Center in the Berkshire region.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of campus safety, security or public-facing experience preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgement in emergencies.
  • Ability to write clear, confidential reports and maintain discretion.
  • Basic proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; operate radios and access-control devices.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of buildings, guest areas, parking lots, and grounds.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Campus Safety Associate helps create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for Kripalu guests, participants, staff, faculty, volunteers, vendors, and visitors. Grounded in Kripalu's commitment to Sacred Hospitality, the Associate provides attentive guest service while carrying out campus safety, security, and emergency response responsibilities.

Working independently and as part of a collaborative team, the Associate conducts routine patrols and security checks across a large campus; monitors alarms and access; identifies and reports hazards or unusual activity; responds to incidents, medical needs, and emergencies; and completes clear, timely documentation. The successful candidate remains calm under pressure, uses sound judgement, communicates with care, and provides assistance only within the scope of their training and authority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts regular, visible patrols of buildings, guest areas, parking lots, grounds, and other campus spaces; completes assigned security, safety, and environmental checks.
  • Proactively identifies hazards, unsafe conditions, suspicious activity, and policy concerns; takes appropriate immediate action and promptly notifies or escalates to the appropriate department or leader.
  • Monitors alarm, access-control, camera, radio, telephone, and other safety systems; responds promptly and follows established Campus Safety policies, emergency plans, standard operating procedures, and evacuation protocols.
  • Provides first aid and CPR/AED support only within the scope of current training; contacts Police, Fire, EMS, or other outside agencies when additional assistance is required and supports responders upon arrival.
  • Completes accurate, objective, detailed incident, accident, patrol, and shift documentation before the end of the assigned shift; communicates essential information during shift handoff and participates in follow-up as requested.
  • Reports and assists with the review of incidents, accidents, near misses, hazards, and recurring concerns to support corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Welcomes guests, visitors, vendors, and service providers; verifies authorization, supports sign in and access procedures, provides directions and assistance with department procedures.
  • Supports Community Agreements through respectful communication, de‑escalation, appropriate boundaries, and timely referral of concerns, including situations involving emotional distress or mental health resiliency needs.
  • Performs basic guest‑service and facilities‑support tasks within training and authority, and coordinates promptly with Facilities, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Programme Operations, People & Culture, and other departments as needed.
  • Operates department vehicles and equipment safely, completes required checks, and follows all driver, radio, technology, and equipment procedures.
  • Participates in orientation, monthly departmental safety training, emergency drills, active‑threat and evacuation training, and all required certifications or recertifications.
  • Maintains professional readiness, confidentiality, reliability, and a service‑focused presence throughout the shift; performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1‑2 years of campus safety, security, emergency response, hospitality, health care, human services, or comparable public‑facing experience; experience on a large or residential campus is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgement, follow procedures, and communicate effectively during routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate, objective and timely reports and to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and the ability to learn and use radios, mobile phones, cameras, access‑control systems, alarm systems, and related workplace technologies.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Kripalu's requirements for operating organisational vehicles.
  • Current CPR/AED and first aid certification, or ability to obtain and maintain certification through employer‑provided training within the required timeframe.
  • Ability to patrol a large campus in varied indoor and outdoor conditions, remain on one’s feet for extended periods, climb stairs, and respond promptly to calls for assistance, with or without reasonable accommodation.
