Job summary

Columbia Public Schools in Missouri seeks a Building Safety and Security Aide (High School) to screen visitors and provide access control for campus buildings. The role includes greeting entrants, supervising in hallways, lunchroom, and other campus locations, and supporting safety and security for students and staff.

The district-wide position may be assigned to other locations. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and Missouri Substitute teaching certificate;

Qualifications

• Minimum: Highschool Diploma or equivalent; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
• Ability to walk long distances and watch video camera footage for long periods; positive and appropriate communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Navigate, observe security camera system and access points.
• Greet visitors entering the building and monitor hallways, lunchroom, and common areas.
• Assist administrators and teachers with students in halls during passing times.
• Escort students as needed and supervise in hallways, commons, and bus arrival/dismissal.
• Oversee Open-gate weapons detection system and support safety and security district-wide.
