Job summary

The Ohio State University CFAES Wooster Campus is seeking a Recreational Sports Specialist 1 to develop recreation, fitness, wellness, and student engagement opportunities that help students thrive academically and socially.

In this role you will coordinate intramural sports, fitness programs, wellness initiatives, and student activities; manage the Student Activity Center operations; and support campus events with a focus on safe, welcoming facilities and data-driven program improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate intramural sports, fitness programs, wellness initiatives, and student activities.
• Manage daily operations of the Student Activity Center, including scheduling, recreation hours, and special events.
• Assist with overseeing athletic fields and recreational spaces, ensuring safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities.
• Analyze participation data to assess program success and identify growth opportunities.
• Support orientation, campus events, and Student Life initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Wooster, regional campuses, and Columbus to enhance the student experience.
• Promote programs through social media, websites, and other marketing channels.
