California Baptist University is seeking a Campus Recreation professional to assist in managing, developing, and directing student activities, intramural sports, and Esports programs in alignment with the university's Christ-centered mission.

The role includes planning, budgeting, staff supervision, and marketing for student recreation programs, with evening and weekend availability as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementation of Campus Recreation programs.
  • Provide oversight of intramural sports programs on and off campus.
  • Provide oversight of Esports programs including leagues and tournaments.
  • Oversee intramural equipment inventory and procurement.
  • Help establish short- and long-range goals, policies, and procedures for intramural sports.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff and graduate assistants.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Monitor operations and drive improvements.
  • Develop annual marketing plans to boost student involvement in intramural sports and oversee execution.
  • Maintain intramural policies and procedures.
  • Maintain flexible office hours including nights and weekends.

Summary

Assist in managing, developing, and directing various student activities including intramural sports, recreation center services, and other Campus Recreation programs that reflect the Christian values of California Baptist University.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of comprehensive Campus Recreation programs.
  • Provide oversight of various intramural sports programs both on and off campus.
  • Provide oversight of Esports programs including leagues and tournaments.
  • Oversee the department’s intramural equipment inventory and purchase all intramural‑related items.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing short‑ and long‑range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures regarding intramural sports.
  • Recruit, employ, train, supervise, and evaluate student interns, intramural referees, and graduate assistants.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness and effect changes required for improvement.
  • Develop strategic annual marketing plans to further student involvement in intramural sports programs and oversee execution of such plans.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of intramural policies and procedures.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours with a flexible availability schedule, including nights and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part‑time student workers in order to complete office work assignments.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate fitness equipment, computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Requires regular physical activity; the employee must regularly lift and/move up to 50 pounds and stand and/or walk for more than six hours per day. Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is normally performed outdoors and in a typical interior/office environment with moderate exposure to health or safety hazards.
