Job summary

SF State University is seeking a Security Officer to serve as a visible campus security presence within the University Police Department. The role involves patrolling campus grounds and buildings, enforcing campus regulations, and providing public safety support to the campus community.

The incumbent will assist with incident reporting, traffic and parking enforcement, and coordination during emergencies. This position is a one-year probationary appointment with a full-time work schedule.

Qualifications

• High school level reading and writing abilities.
• California Driver’s License required.
• Background check may be required and POST-related training may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus on foot, bike or vehicle to protect students and staff.
• Enforce campus rules, report hazards, and assist in incidents.
• Provide public safety support and information to UPD and visitors.
• Assist with parking enforcement, citations, and traffic control during peak times.
