Job summary

University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on the UHSP main campus in St. Louis, MO is seeking a full-time Public Safety Staff member.

The role focuses on assisting faculty, staff, and students with parking, access, and campus security, while upholding campus policies through empathetic service and on-foot patrols. Responsibilities include monitoring cameras and alarm systems, responding to safety incidents, and coordinating with fellow officers to ensure a safe, respectful campus environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• High level customer service skills; preference for prior public safety, military, asset protection experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an armed St Louis Metro Security License, including clear background checks and driving record, passing physical and psychological evaluation.
• Experience with Adult CPR with First Aid and AED; certification required within 90 days of hire if not already held.
• Knowledge of FEMA emergency protocols; completion of FEMA IS100, IS200 within 30 days; related emergency management certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level service to faculty, staff and students with questions about parking, building access, wayfinding, and policy violations or security concerns.
• Maintain visible public safety presence while ensuring campus access policies on foot patrols on and around campus.
• Monitor digital cameras, CCTV, card access controls, alarms and phones; track and report on logs.
• Follow SOPs, use judgement with empathy, collaborate with other public safety staff to coordinate campus safety efforts.
