Job summary

The University of Southern Indiana is seeking a Public Safety Officer for a 3rd shift to provide comprehensive security for campus facilities, housing, and university property. You will patrol on foot, bike, or vehicle, enforce policies, respond to emergencies, and prepare detailed incident reports.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and the ability to work rotating shifts; essential employee status applies. USI offers strong benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of security enforcement methods and techniques required.
• Ability to enforce university policy, rules, regulations and laws firmly and consistently.
• Must possess valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
• Status is deemed essential employee and requires 24/7 duty.

Responsibilities

• Provide a 24/7 presence on the campus, student housing and other university property.
• Enforce university rules and regulations, local, state and federal laws as prescribed by the Board of Trustees.
• Patrol on foot, bicycle, or in vehicle to protect property, assets and persons; investigate and report incidents.
• Monitor and respond to calls for service; provide assistance and coordinate with agencies when needed.
• Prepare and write reports for investigations and incidents; testify when required.
• Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic on campus and assist with crowd control at events.
