Job summary

Point Park University is seeking a Police Officer (full-time) in the Public Safety department. This sworn position requires carrying a firearm and provides law enforcement and public safety services to the university community.

The role patrols university properties and adjacent public areas, ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. The officer must meet PA Act 120 certification, CPR/AED/First Responder credentials, and pass pre-employment and ongoing drug testing.

Qualifications

• PA Act 120 certification (current in-service training).
• Associate's degree (preferred) or equivalent in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Minimum one-year PA law enforcement experience.
• Psychological, physical, pre-employment and ongoing drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States and Commonwealth of PA, and University policies.
• Obey and carry out orders from Chief of Police and supervisory staff.
• Maintain peace, order, and safety within Point Park University areas.
• Investigate crimes, preserve evidence, and support court proceedings as needed.
• Prepare concise daily reports and case materials for court, testify when required.
• Review investigations and recommend further action as necessary.
• Enforce university rules and department procedures.
• Respond to calls and document actions in department records.
• Conduct vigorous patrols and remain alert to criminal activity, handle incidents professionally.
• Occasionally perform dispatching responsibilities.
• Demonstrate alignment with Point Park University's mission and core values.
• Operate radio, telephone, computer, and CCTV monitoring equipment.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
