Job summary

South Texas College is seeking a Police Officer to perform specialized law enforcement on college property and facilities. You will patrol, enforce traffic and laws, conduct investigations, and ensure safety for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include investigating incidents, writing reports, maintaining records, and coordinating with agencies. Requires TCOLE licensure, CPR/AED, and willingness to work varied shifts and locations.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws as well as college standards and expectations of the peace officer position.
• Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and Windows environment.
• Ability to analyze situations quickly and determine appropriate actions.

Responsibilities

• Patrols college facilities and property by foot or vehicle; issues citations and secures entrances.
• Answers calls and provides assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
• Investigates automobile accidents and suspected crimes; conducts preliminary investigations and gathers evidence.
• Maintains accurate records and writes incident or crime reports; coordinates with state, federal, and local agencies as required.
• Provides traffic control and emergency response; participates in crime prevention and public education.
