GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Campus Public Safety Officers identify crime, security and safety risks in and around the university campuses and initiate appropriate action to remove or reduce those risks. Performs varied assignments related to enforcement of laws, rules, regulations and policies and provides security, safety and emergency response services to students, faculty and staff. Must be Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) certified or eligible.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is primarily mobile and requires almost continual movement from one location to another for patrol purposes. Running may be required in emergency situations and ability to ride a bicycle is required. Exposure to various weather conditions is constant and year-round. Requires work on weekends and nights and overtime.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ACTIVITIES
This position has physical requirements that range from sedentary through to very heavy; including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motion.
