Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services seeks a Chesterton’s Pub Supervisor to oversee a small on-campus pub serving students, faculty, staff, and guests. You will supervise student staff, maintain service and safety standards, and foster a welcoming environment aligned with institutional values.

The position offers full- and part-time schedules with open availability preferred, and pay ranges from $18.00 to $24.00 per hour. Location is on-campus at 7500 University Drive, Bismarck, ND 58504.

Qualifications

• Bar and customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise student staff and maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Experience supervising operations in a food/beverage setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the campus pub, including service, staff coverage, and cleanliness.
• Provide leadership and oversight for student employees, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws, campus policies, and safety regulations.
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering food, beverages, and supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with campus partners to support events such as trivia nights, live music, and themed programming.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere for all guests.
• Handle customer service issues promptly and professionally.
• Assist with POS system operations.
• Enforce ID checks and age restrictions per law.
• Serve as liaison between pub and university departments.
