Job summary

American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is seeking an Academic Programs Assistant to support college outreach, student leadership recruitment, and scholarly events in Washington, DC. The role focuses on coordinating campus visits, producing online content, and hosting the annual Summer Honors Program, starting as soon as possible.

You will work with AEI scholars and staff to develop engaging programs, assist with newsletters and social content, and help plan conferences.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree at the start date is required.
  • 0-2 years of previous, applicable work experience preferred for an assistant.
  • Self-starter, strong work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AEI scholarship, think tanks, public policy, and academia; specifically with current debates related to AEI’s major policy areas.
  • Other preferred experiences include event-planning experience, campus student group or other volunteer organization leadership experience, and knowledge of Microsoft 365, Salesforce and HubSpot

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate campus outreach and scholar events across the nation.
  • Produce newsletters and materials for online engagement.
  • Recruit student leaders and host Summer Honors Program.
  • Assist in online programming with AEI scholars and staff.
  • Support planning and execution of conferences and seminars in Washington, DC and online.
  • Maintain databases tracking students and academic partners.
  • Track event honoraria, travel, and department expenses.
