John A. Logan College is seeking a Full-time Campus Safety Officer to join the Campus Police Department. The role supports a safe, secure, and respectful campus environment for students, employees, and visitors, with a focus on proactive safety operations and coordination with external agencies.

Overnight, 40-hour weeks are required. Responsibilities include campus safety patrol, emergency response, security monitoring, reporting, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Illinois driver's license.
• Background check and security clearance.
• Illinois PERC card within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform routine physical inspections of campus safety equipment.
• Lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Complete 8 hours of defensive tactics and de-escalation training annually.

Job description

John A. Logan College is seeking a Full-time Campus Safety Officer to work in the Campus Police Department. The Campus Safety Officer supports the mission of John A. Logan College by maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful campus environment for students, employees, and visitors. This position supports proactive campus safety operations, monitors campus conditions, and coordinates with Campus Police and external agencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license
• Must pass a background check and security clearance
• Must have or obtain an Illinois PERC card within 6 months of hire
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Must be able to perform assigned routine physical inspections of campus safety equipment
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
• Must be able to complete 8 hours of defensive tactics and de-escalation training annually

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic security practices, safety regulations, and operational guidelines
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, including medical, fire, and safety protocols
• General knowledge of security technology and ability to use related equipment and tools

• Ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in high-stress situations

Salary: $16.25 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week, overnight shifts
