Job summary

The University of Minnesota Duluth Police Department is seeking a Police Officer to patrol the campus, respond to calls, direct traffic, issue citations, and investigate activities to maintain a safe, inclusive environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Requires a two-year POST-certified degree or equivalent plus POST certification, EMS training, and a valid driver's license. Lateral pay may apply for experienced officers. This is a full-time civil-service position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree POST-certified or equivalent plus certification by POST Board.
  • Must be eligible for Peace Officer license and maintain license.
  • Emergency Medical Response training or equivalent.
  • Background check, agility, medical, psychological exams, and interviews.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned area on foot, bicycle, or vehicle and engage with the community.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
  • Enhance campus safety through collaboration and education.
  • Direct traffic on or near campus.
  • Administer medical treatment when necessary.
  • Issue traffic citations and investigate violations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
