Job summary

Amarillo ISD is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to safeguard district campuses under Texas law. You will patrol properties, respond to crises, investigate incidents, and collaborate with district administration, students, staff, and local law enforcement to maintain a secure learning environment.

The role requires a Texas Peace Officer license, a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s preferred), and strong report-writing and communication skills. Travel and variable hours may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's preferred in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Texas Peace Officer license (TCOLE) required.
• Valid Texas driver's license required.
• NIMS/ICS training (ICS 100, 200, 700) preferred.
• SBLE Training #4064 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned district areas by foot and vehicle.
• Respond to crises and emergencies, including after-hours.
• Investigate incidents and enforce Board Policies and laws.
• Collect and preserve evidence; interview witnesses.
• Arrest offenders and file charges; ensure detention as needed.
• Write clear, legal incident reports and testify in court.
