Job summary

Waco ISD seeks a Police Officer to patrol district campuses, respond to crises, and investigate incidents within the district’s jurisdiction. The role enforces laws and protects students, staff, and visitors, with duties including evidence collection and court testimony.

Reporting to the Police Supervisor, the officer will perform crossing guard duties, handle incident reports, and cooperate with other agencies while maintaining safety and discipline across district properties.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; TCLEOSE license; valid Texas Class C license.
• Special knowledge: basic criminal law, police report writing, firearms handling, and ability to work with youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campuses and routes by walking or driving within district jurisdiction.
• Respond to calls from principals or designee regarding crises, accidents, or crime reports.
• Investigate criminal offenses within district jurisdiction; initiate investigations at campus or district level.
• Collect and preserve evidence, including witness statements and physical evidence.
• Arrest offenders, file charges, and arrange for detention as required.
• Write clear, concise legal incident reports and testify in court as needed.
• Coordinate with other agencies for information sharing and assistance.
• Provide traffic control at events and protect district personnel as needed.
• Operate all equipment including firearms per safety procedures.
• Maintain and file reports and affidavits; complete annual weapon qualification.
