Duties: General police duties include activities to ensure the safety and stability of the college community, such as crime prevention, assisting individuals in danger or needing emergency care, traffic management, enforcing parking regulations, identifying threats, creating a safe environment, and maintaining community relations.
Functions: Responsibilities include exercising authority ethically, coordinating with colleagues, maintaining equipment, responding to emergencies, conducting patrols, assisting the public, enforcing laws, maintaining reports, investigating incidents, collecting evidence, and preserving crime scenes.
Qualifications: Candidates must have an associates or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field, or equivalent training and experience, including certification as a Law Enforcement Officer through POST-C, and other specific certifications. Valid driver’s license and Massachusetts License to Carry a Firearm are required. Ability to pass physical and medical exams, and demonstrate effective communication skills, professionalism, and emotional stability are essential.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Exposure to outdoor weather, extended driving, physical activities, and the need for physical confrontations are expected. The role requires physical fitness, dexterity, and the ability to operate emergency equipment.
