Job summary

NC State University Police Department is seeking qualified Master Police Officer I-III to protect the campus community, enforce laws, and maintain safety. The role requires patrolling the NC State campus, investigating complaints, and performing preventative patrol techniques to deter crime.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum high school diploma or GED, with advanced degrees reducing experience requirements, and valid state certification.

Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or GED; advanced degree reduces minimum experience by 1 year.
• Current certification from NC CJETSC as a commissioned police officer or certification eligible within the specified timeframe is required.
• Candidates must meet the minimum State standards for employment and complete a department orientation and field training.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus and investigate complaints and violations of state laws and local ordinances.
• Develop and implement preventive patrol techniques and perform specialized duties to deter crime and promote safety.
• Conduct background investigations and related security investigations as part of the hiring process.
• Interact with students, faculty, staff and visitors, upholding professional conduct and clear safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
