Job summary

Victor Valley College is seeking a sworn Campus Police Supervisor to organize, supervise, and evaluate police staff, primarily on patrol shifts, while enforcing campus parking and traffic regulations and state laws.

The role requires a valid California driver’s license, POST certifications, and a track record in leadership, emergency response, and reporting. A strong emphasis is placed on student and community safety.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to an associate degree in police science, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of law enforcement experience at a level equivalent to Campus Senior Police Officer.
• Valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Intermediate P.O.S.T. Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Supervisory P.O.S.T. Certificate is desirable.
• Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within two (2) years of employment a Campus Law Enforcement Course Certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, assign, supervise, and review the work of sworn staff on an assigned patrol shift; train staff; coordinate shift changes; oversee training activities; evaluate employee performance; counsel employees; recommend initial disciplinary action.
• Monitor and assess Police Department policies and procedures; assist with policy development; determine equipment for police activities.
• Monitor and organize law enforcement activities during a shift; establish timelines and priorities; ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
• Supervise patrolling the assigned area; deter crime with high visibility patrols; respond to emergencies and incidents.
• Maintain contact with students, staff, and public; provide information and directions; take reports and assist with complaints.
