Job summary

PASS Tutors at American University provide one-on-one tutoring to AU students through the PASS program, with sessions typically 2–6 hours per week on campus. Tutors are AU students, many eligible for Federal Work Study, and receive opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities include tutoring prep, documenting sessions, and attending trainings, plus class visits to promote the program across campus. Positions renew each semester based on student status.

Qualifications

• PASS Program tutors must be AU students.
• Some positions eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS).
• FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring in supported courses.
• Prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing WCOnline forms and past concepts.
• Use empty sessions to complete other tutor tasks and activities.
• Distribute Post-Tutoring Survey to attendees at the end of each session.
• Complete Post-Appointment Client Report Forms after tutoring sessions.
• Attend and fully participate in semester trainings.
• Conduct peer observations of fellow PASS Program Tutors.
• Meet with Tutoring staff at least twice per semester.
• Accurately complete time sheets and surveys in a timely manner.
• Conduct class visits to advertise the PASS Program to students across campus.
