Job summary

The University of Texas Permian Basin invites applications for a Maintenance Worker III - Painter to perform skilled painting, surface prep, repair, and general maintenance across campus facilities.

Responsibilities include painting walls, floors, ceilings, doors and frames, drywall patching, texturing, and estimating materials, with on-call and emergency response as needed to support campus operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience performing installation, operation, construction, maintenance, or repair work in a related field.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Vocational training or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
• More than five years of experience as a journey level craft worker.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting work on walls, floors, ceilings, metal doors, frames, and other assigned surfaces.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, staining, repair, or finishing work.
• Perform drywall patching, texturing, wood staining, and related surface repair work.
• Estimate time and materials needed to complete painting, repair, or maintenance projects.
• Assist with general maintenance duties involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems as assigned.
• Perform related maintenance duties and special projects as assigned by the department director.
• Complete urgent or emergency repairs during assigned on call periods and return to campus when needed during those periods.
• Participate as part of the emergency response team when assigned.
• Provide snow and ice removal support when necessary.
