Job summary

Cal Poly is seeking a Painter within Facilities Management and Development to perform journey-level painting, finishing, and maintenance of interior and exterior surfaces at the Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo Campus.

Under supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager for Architectural Trades, you will prepare surfaces, apply finishes by brush, roll or spray, inspect work for conformance with specifications and safety codes, and estimate time and materials for painting projects.

Qualifications

• Progression to journey-level painting skills demonstrated via training/apprenticeship.
• Experience or training in surface preparation, finishing, and coating applications.
• Ability to estimate time and material needs for painting projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting and finishing.
• Apply undercoats and finish coats using brush, roller and spray.
• Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications and safety codes.
• Estimate time, cost and materials for painting projects.
• Maintain and operate paint shop tools and equipment.
