Job summary

Salem University LLC is seeking a Network Support Technician to maintain and optimize the university’s network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure technology services across campus.

The candidate will monitor performance, troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, configure network hardware, support security, and manage LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless environments. Strong documentation and communication with IT staff and university stakeholders are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, network administration, cybersecurity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of hands-on experience in network support or related IT infrastructure roles.
• Experience troubleshooting LAN, WAN, wireless, and network connectivity issues.
• Experience configuring enterprise switches, routers, firewalls, or comparable network infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
• Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide after-hours or weekend support as required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical resource for network-related incidents and service requests.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, DNS, DHCP, routing, and other network connectivity issues.
• Diagnose network performance, availability, configuration, and security problems.
• Investigate outages and work to restore services promptly.
• Escalate complex incidents to appropriate internal resources or vendors.
• Document troubleshooting activities and resolutions for knowledge sharing.
• Monitor network health and performance using approved tools.
• Install, configure, maintain and support enterprise network equipment.
