Position Summary

The Campus Monitor provides a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment during dismissal, after-school activities, student pickup, and campus events. This position maintains an active presence throughout the campus, supervises students awaiting transportation, performs scheduled building and grounds checks, verifies that designated areas are secure, supports approved event setups, and promptly documents or reports concerns. The Campus Monitor works closely with school leadership, Athletics, Corporate Work Study Program staff, coaches, and other employees to support consistent campus procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Supervision and Dismissal
  • Assist with dismissal traffic duty and maintain a visible supervisory presence in assigned parking, lobby, and student waiting areas.
  • Supervise students remaining on campus after dismissal and direct them to approved waiting locations at designated times.
  • Conduct regular rounds, including approximately every 30 minutes or as directed, to monitor student activity and campus conditions.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Work Study Program staff regarding returning student workers, final transportation arrivals, and student counts.
  • Begin confirming student transportation plans as pickup deadlines approach and remain on duty until assigned students have been picked up or released according to school procedures.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and refer student behavior, transportation, or safety concerns to the appropriate administrator.
Campus Safety and Facility Checks
  • Complete opening, dismissal, periodic, and closing sweeps of assigned areas, including hallways, stairwells, the front lobby, Commons, chapel area, gym, weight room, Black Box, restrooms, staff lounges, and other designated spaces.
  • Check exterior, interior, aluminum, storage, and activity-space doors to confirm they are fully closed and secured; use the school access-control application when assigned while also visually verifying doors.
  • Confirm that designated rooms are clear of students or visitors before securing them, following established boundaries for locker rooms and team areas during practices or events.
  • Check basic closing conditions, including that kitchen ovens are off, curtains are raised or closed at the appropriate time, and secured areas remain locked.
  • Collect or manage campus trash during rounds and position additional trash receptacles for events as needed.
  • Immediately report hazards, unsecured doors, suspicious activity, maintenance concerns, injuries, policy violations, or other unusual conditions to the appropriate administrator or emergency contact.
Athletic Events and Facilities Support
  • Review athletic practice, game, and facility-use schedules and maintain awareness of approved after-hours activities.
  • Post and remove event, parking, restroom, gym, and directional signs according to the event plan.
  • Prepare assigned spaces by moving stands as needed and arranging approved chairs, tables, concessions equipment, and trash receptacles for soccer, volleyball, basketball, and other events.
  • Unlock approved event access points at the designated time and resecure them after use.
  • Coordinate with coaches and the Athletic Department regarding responsibility for athletes, locker rooms, team areas, and event closeout.
  • Remain through the completion of assigned events when scheduled and perform a final sweep to confirm that students and visitors have exited designated spaces.
Communication and Documentation
  • Carry and respond to the school radio or other assigned communication device during the shift.
  • Maintain accurate incident, activity, and event logs so school administration can identify relevant times, locations, and circumstances.
  • Maintain or reference a current calendar of campus facility use and communicate scheduling conflicts or unexpected activity.
  • Provide a clear handoff to the appropriate staff member or administrator at the end of the shift and complete other related duties as assigned.
Schedule Expectations

This position primarily works during dismissal, after-school, evening, and event hours. The schedule may vary based on the school calendar, student transportation, facility use, athletic practices, and home events.
