Job summary

Montclair State University is seeking a Student Health Center Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and support both administrative and clinical duties within the Health Center.

You will manage patient flow, obtain vital signs, transcribe to the medical record, assist providers during examinations, perform CLIA-waived testing and venipuncture, restock rooms, and maintain logs. This hourly, temporary position offers benefits including health insurance and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program (NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHP).
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• High school diploma.
• 6 months experience in a primary care setting preferred.
• Experience working with young adults and diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient flow and monitor arrival; accompany patients to exam rooms.
• Obtain vital signs and transcribe to the medical record promptly; report abnormalities.
• Perform CLIA-waived point-of-care testing and collect lab specimens.
• Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures; perform venipuncture.
• Restock, clean, and prepare medical exam rooms and labs; maintain logs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the department.
