Job summary

University of St. Thomas seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Facilities Management team. You’ll maintain and repair campus mechanical systems, from boilers and chillers to air handling units, supporting comfort, safety and sustainability.

Engineering II or III candidates will contribute to preventive maintenance, on-call rotation, and continuous improvement of campus infrastructure. A strong work ethic and relevant boiler and refrigerant certifications are required.

Qualifications

  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills (email, MS Office, spreadsheets).
  • Be a member of a bargaining unit (Local 70).
  • 2-year technical degree in mechanical maintenance and 5+ years experience for Engineer III.
  • Minnesota boiler licenses and EPA Refrigeration certificate required or obtainable within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair mechanical equipment and systems campus-wide.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and water treatment testing for boilers and chillers.
  • Operate and troubleshoot EMS/controls related to temperature and system performance.
  • Support on-call rotations and respond to mechanical system issues as needed.
