Job summary

The University of Holy Cross is seeking a dependable Maintenance Worker to join the Facilities & Operations team. This full-time role maintains, repairs, and improves campus facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of facilities maintenance experience, hands-on skills with tools, and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two to five years of facilities/building maintenance or related experience.
• Experience with hand and power tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues independently.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
• Able to read and follow work orders, safety procedures, and instructions.
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work on campus buildings and facilities.
• Complete painting, carpentry, plumbing, and basic construction projects.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment, fixtures, walls, doors, and other facility components.
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies for campus events and operational needs.
• Perform routine inspections of campus buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Maintain campus grounds and assist with outdoor maintenance projects.
• Remove trash and debris from designated areas as needed.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with University policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Follow Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and report safety concerns promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor.
