Job summary

The University of Georgia invites applications for a Student Assistant—VPI (2) on the Griffin Campus. This 0.50 FTE, non-exempt position performs field and maintenance work, facilities and shop maintenance, and grounds duties as described.

Candidates should have an interest in agriculture, horticulture, or technical trades; ability to follow written and oral instructions; and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather. Start date 09/28/2026; open until filled.

Qualifications

• Interest in agriculture, horticulture, or technical trades preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist with changing HVAC filters and lighting.
• Support maintenance technicians with light facility tasks (carpentry, painting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Perform post-construction clean-up of labs and offices and maintain shop organization.
• Maintain grounds including garden beds, mowing, weeds and edging; campus mail and package distribution.
