Job summary

Bowie State University is seeking a Campus Life Safety Manager to lead life-safety, emergency preparedness, and risk-management efforts on campus. This role supports NFPA 101 compliance and collaborates with Facilities, EHS, Public Safety, Emergency Management, Residence Life, and Risk Management to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.

The position focuses on implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, coordinating corrective actions, and maintaining compliance records

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in fire/life safety or safety management.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and applicable life-safety requirements.
• Experience conducting life-safety inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance.
• Experience coordinating contractors, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Campus Life NFPA 101 Life Safety Program.
• Conduct and coordinate life-safety inspections of facilities, laboratories, student spaces, and event areas.
• Monitor means of egress, emergency exits, corridors, stairs, fire doors, exit signage, emergency lighting, and other life-safety features.
• Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
