Job summary

Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI is seeking a Landscape Maintenance Operator I to maintain campus grounds year‑round, mowing, edging, pruning, and operating equipment. Two positions are available. Requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and CMU motorized vehicle operator certification within 6 months.

Duties include supporting events and winter operations. Starting pay is $19.78 per hour; schedule is Mon-Fri, 7:30 a.m.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of landscape maintenance.
CMU Motorized Utility Vehicle operator certification within 6 months of employment.
Ability to work safely and with limited supervision.
Demonstrated ability to follow directions and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Mow, edge, trim, sweep, rake, fertilize, seed, water, aerate and care for campus landscapes.
Prune and care for trees, shrubs, hedges; remove and dispose of plants as needed.
Maintain landscape beds with weeding, pruning, and mulching.
Plant turf, trees, shrubs, and other horticultural items.
Inspect plants for damage and take corrective action.
Set up and maintain athletic fields and related areas.
Install, repair, and operate irrigation systems.
