Job summary

MSU Landscape Services is seeking staff to assist in planning and record-keeping for the Campus Landscape Management Plan. Responsibilities include planting, care of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, turf, and general maintenance across campus.

The role requires participation in football tailgate cleanup and snow removal duties, with a focus on maintaining health and growth of plant materials. Physical demands and weather conditions are part of daily work.

Qualifications

• Casual knowledge of landscape equipment, tools, methods, and processes used in gardening and grounds maintenance.
• One-year of satisfactory landscape maintenance and installation experience.
• One-year of commercial snow removal experience operating a licensed plow vehicle.
• Possession of pesticide applicator certification (3A/3B/6)
• Possession of MSU forklift/loader/tractor/toolcat permits
• Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planting and routine care of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, turf, and other plant material.
• Read planting plans and blueprints and lay out landscape beds and lawns.
• Assist in football tailgate cleanup and snow removal planning.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment; manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Correspondence through email, training, meetings and professional development.
