Job summary

Montclair State University seeks a Grounds Worker to perform horticultural tasks and maintain the university landscape. The role involves monitoring grounds for needs such as fertilizing, pest control, weeding, pruning, and watering, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations.

The incumbent will handle lawn care, seasonal planting installations, snow removal, and maintenance of athletic fields and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in landscape maintenance.
• Must have a valid NJ Driver's license.
• Must be able to read, write, speak English sufficiently to perform duties.
• Must be available to work all shifts, overtime, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor campus grounds to determine needs for services such as fertilizing, insect and disease control, weeding, dead plant removal, watering, pruning.
• Police campus grounds and pick up litter and debris as needed.
• Maintain lawns and softscapes for neat, horticulturally appealing appearances (mowing, trimming, edging).
• Water new plant material and floral displays to aid establishment and survival.
• Prune trees and shrubs per University policy to maintain health and aesthetic value and clearance for streets and walkways.
