Responsibilities

• Learns to read menu to estimate food requirements; orders food from supplier or procures it from storage.
• Prepares and cooks food in accordance with production records and recipes.
• Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate oven/boiler temperatures.
• Measures and mixes ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables and other foods under guidance.
• Tests food by tasting and senses to ensure proper cooking.
• Carves meat and portions food; adds gravies and garnishes as directed.
• Maintains sanitation and safety in kitchen areas.
• Interacts with customers and coworkers courteously.
