Job summary

University of the Cumberlands is seeking a Systems Administrator to support, maintain, secure, and improve the University's enterprise technology infrastructure.

The role covers physical and virtual servers, virtualization, backup and recovery, data center infrastructure, patching, and vulnerability management, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability for academic and administrative operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Windows Server and virtualization.
• Experience with backup and recovery technologies.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and DNS/DHCP.
• Familiarity with security hardening and patching.
• Ability to document systems clearly and accurately.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Configure, administer, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual server environments (VMware).
• Deploy, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot servers, OS, and storage infrastructure.
• Administer enterprise backup and recovery systems and perform tests.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Support data center operations including power, cooling, and cabling.
• Manage physical access control systems and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Monitor infrastructure for availability and security; perform root-cause analysis.
• Maintain technical documentation and diagrams.

Education

Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/IS or related field
