Job summary

Monroe County Community College is seeking a Systems Administrator to support campus server infrastructure. The role involves installing and maintaining servers, VMware environments, and related services while coordinating with faculty and staff for smooth IT operations.

The candidate will manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and backup systems, document configurations, and work with vendors on upgrades and bids as directed by the IT Infrastructure Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information technology, or related field.
• Three years of experience in server management and hypervisor virtual server deployments is required. Work experience in a higher education environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade server hardware.
• Install, maintain and upgrade server operating systems (Microsoft Server, Linux, VMware).
• Manage VM infrastructure and vCenter servers.
• Configure and maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other essential services.
• Ensure security and reliability of enterprise systems, backups, and monitoring.
• Create and maintain system documentation and incident reports.
• Collaborate with IT teams and vendors on bid specs and upgrades.
