Job summary

Buffalo State University in Buffalo, NY, seeks a Maintenance Supervisor 1 to lead skilled trades staff in maintaining campus HVAC systems, boilers and building automation. This working supervisor role requires hands-on HVAC expertise, the ability to read plans, supervise crews, and coordinate with external contractors.

The ideal candidate will hold EPA-608 license, DEC CAT .7G, a valid NYS driver’s license, and experience with preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and customer service.

Qualifications

• EPA608 Universal Refrigerant License required
• DEC CAT .7G (cooling tower) license required
• Valid NYS Driver’s License required
• Applicator license required
• One year of trade experience or equivalent training/experience

Responsibilities

• Perform journeyman HVAC work including installation, maintenance, and repair of systems and controls.
• Respond to daily service requests and scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and service HVAC equipment and BAS.
• Read and interpret prints and schematics.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and supervise staff to ensure project success.
• Ensure compliance with codes, safety standards, and building policies.
• Provide high level of customer service and respond promptly to emergencies.
