Job summary

San Diego Community College District – Facilities Services Unit is seeking a Maintenance Worker / HVAC Electrical to maintain HVAC and electrical systems across campus. The role runs Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s option.

New employees begin at Step D ($5,431.85 per month). Salary negotiation is not allowed. The position supports campus operations through preventive and corrective maintenance and collaboration with the

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in building maintenance trades, including at least 1 year of apprentice-level HVAC or electrical repair experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment, refrigeration, electrical systems, energy management controls, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with tools, methods, and equipment to maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently with little direction.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse educational environment.
• Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by NACES or ACEI and submit the evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret sketches, drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Maintain logs, reports, and records of all work performed.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with the Facilities team to support campus operations.
