Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center is seeking a Painter to join Housing & Food Services in Seattle. You will perform journey-level painting duties, surface prep, finishing, and related repairs, while maintaining safety practices and supporting team projects.

The role requires an apprenticeship or journeyman status, with a valid WA driver’s license preferred. This permanent position offers growth and benefits within the UW system.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a painter; OR full journey status as a painter in a union; OR four years of applicable work experience.
• May require valid State of Washington driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation, Painting & Finishing (60%). Scrape, sand, wash and remove old finishes; apply primers, sealers and coatings; paint walls, ceilings, trim; tape joints; refinish woodwork and floors.
• Surface Repair & Restoration (25%). Perform minor repairs to drywall, plaster, wood, metal and masonry; patch, caulk and restore surfaces.
• Equipment, Materials & Operational Support (15%). Operate tools and spray equipment; load/unload materials; maintain logs; train helpers and coordinate with other trades.
