Job summary

The University of Washington, located in Seattle, is seeking a skilled Painter within Housing & Food Services. You will perform journey-level painting, surface prep, repairs, and finish work while maintaining safety and records.

You will work with a team, supervise training for helpers, and coordinate with other trades to ensure high-quality results on university facilities. This is a full-time, first-shift role with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a painter; OR full journey status as a painter in a union; OR four years of applicable work experience.
• May require valid State of Washington driver’s license.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation, Painting & Finishing (60%): Prepare surfaces, apply primers and coatings, paint walls/trim, tape drywall joints, refinish woodwork. Follow safety practices.
• Surface Repair & Restoration (25%): Perform minor repairs, patch/caulk surfaces, address deficiencies.
• Equipment, Materials & Operational Support (15%): Operate tools, maintain equipment, load/unload materials, guide helpers and coordinate with team.
