Job summary

Kent State University is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to lead custodial operations across multiple campus facilities. The role reports to a designated supervisor and oversees supervisors, staff, and contract cleaners to ensure clean and safe environments for students and staff.

The position requires five years of custodial experience with supervisory responsibilities and a valid Ohio driver’s license. Monday–Friday schedule is typical; salary is hourly and benefits may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with supervisory/management training.
• Minimum five years custodial experience, including at least three years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise housekeeping staff and supervisors; assign duties, set priorities, and monitor performance.
• Interview applicants and conduct performance evaluations of custodial staff.
• Recommend personnel actions and implement them.
• Communicate and enforce policies; resolve employee and customer concerns and adjust grievances.
• Monitor hours, overtime, and leave; approve or disapprove leave requests.
• Ensure training needs are identified and training is delivered.
• Develop and modify department policies and procedures.
• Determine staffing needs and budget for housekeeping.
• Oversee external contract cleaning services and ensure contract obligations are met.
• Monitor equipment, furniture and supplies inventory; coordinate purchases.
• Coordinate housekeeping with other university departments.
