Job summary

Qualifications

• General knowledge and skills related to routine housekeeping and maintenance work.
• Ability to perform tasks in specific sequences.
• Physical ability for heavy custodial work and operating cleaning equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow written instructions and warnings.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors by vacuuming, sweeping, washing, waxing and buffing.
• Shampoo carpets and wash windows, walls, and trash cans.
• Dust furniture, fixtures and woodwork.
• Empty trash, collect litter, and remove biological waste.
• Clean, sanitize and stock bathrooms; change shower curtains.
• Replace light bulbs; operate cleaning equipment.
• Move furniture and assist in maintenance of electrical, heating, vents and fixtures.
• Assist in snow removal and training/oversight of helpers.
