Job summary

The Mission Consolidated Independent School District is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain district school grounds in a safe, neat, and attractive condition, supporting students and staff by ensuring well-kept outdoor spaces and equipment.

Responsibilities include mowing, edging, fertilizing, and seeding; equipment inspection and safety compliance; and occasional night/weekend duties. Requires English literacy and a valid Texas driver’s license; non-exempt position with 260 work-year days.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, read, and write English at the 8th Grade Level.
• Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable.
• Ability to read and understand written instruction.
• Ability to operate yard maintenance and landscaping equipment (tractor, riding and power mower, power tools, hand tools).
• Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs. without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assists in propagating and cultivating gardens, plants, trees, shrubs and grass; mowing, edging, fertilizing and seeding; collect leaves and refuse.
• Keeps vehicles and tools in safe condition; inspects and maintains equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Works with other departments to maintain school properties.
• Learns and follows safety procedures and reports accidents.
• Occasionally works night or weekend duty as requested.
• Ensures all vehicles and equipment are locked when left unattended.
